Contrary to fears, prompted by the theme, of it being didactic, Behati Ganga, Sangeeta Sharma's contemporary choreographic work at Connect's Nritya Kriti, turns out to be an imaginatively visualized, tenderly treated piece of performing art, aesthetically pleasing and socially significant.  The child in the mother's womb has sensed that, being a girl, she is unwelcome to the world outside.  The girl would rather remain snugly inside. And yet, both know the thrill of being born and of evolving as a free being in the world.
 

Sangeeta, the young Bhumika choreographer, uses symbols, colours, poetry and lyrical movement – minimally at the level only of suggestion. She projects multiple eyes of society, the mother's indignation in swirling flaming red and, towards the end, the 'cool' unborn in complete white. Earlier, in a momentary scene, the agonized innocent face of the child as she pops out of the mother's belly. Both Sangeeta and Minakshi, who plays the unborn, with their supple, sometimes intertwining movements, give a feel of a genuine mother-child relationship. The mother's conviction and concern are as much the choreographer's. "Ladaki ek behati Ganga hai," she assures the girl child, and society, "shaashvat saundarya ki."  And that makes the distant voice of the little one heard, piercing the air, "Maa, mein aa rahi hoon…"

Like a sculpture. Indian music, smell of incense and a sensual dancer. "The Door". Sangeeta Sharma from India presented in the Theatre "Osmego Dnia" pieces, full of sensitivr beauty. She is fascinated by the old, the Indian, and claims that as a sculptor gives shape to marble, a dancer sculpts her own body.
